Dear [Supervisor Name],

I am seeking approval to attend the 16th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Summit, which takes place Sept. 9–12, 2025, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The Billington Summit brings together experts from across government, industry and academia, and is the leading event for the public sector cybersecurity community. It provides an unparalleled opportunity for professional development, knowledge-sharing, and networking that can benefit both my own work and the broader goals of our organization.

Key Benefits of Attending Include:

  1. Insights into the Latest Cyber Technologies, Tactics and Trends
The Billington CyberSecurity Summit features a wide range of educational sessions, workshops, and small-group discussions, providing direct access to the latest innovations in cybersecurity.
  2. Networking and Collaboration Opportunities
The Billington CyberSecurity Summit will bring together key leaders from the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), federal civilian agencies, key allied nations, and private industry. Engaging with professionals from these sectors will allow for knowledge exchange, collaboration on shared challenges, and identification of new opportunities for interagency cooperation. These interactions will strengthen our department’s relationships with industry partners and help foster solutions to our most pressing operational needs.
  3. Exposure to Government and Industry Experts and Thought Leaders
The event will feature prominent leaders including Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, DISA Director Lt. Gen. Paul T. Stanton, acting Federal CISO Michael Duffy, State Department CIO Dr. Kelly Fletcher, Navy CIO Jane Rathbun, and CIA CISO Jennifer Link, among many others. (Current agenda and speaker roster here: https://billingtoncybersummit.com/speakers/2025-speakers.) In all, roughly 200 thought leaders will share critical perspectives across four days of programming on the evolving role of cyber in national security and defense strategy.
  4. Increased Organizational Impact
I have both a professional and personal responsibility to improve our organization’s mission effectiveness, and am always seeking ways to improve our security practices, operational strategies, and workforce development. By attending the Billington CyberSecurity Summit, I will return with actionable knowledge that can be shared with my colleagues to maximize the impact of my participation.

There is no cost for me to register and attend the Billington CyberSecurity Summit, which is free for government employees and military personnel. The event therefore provides exceptional value given the comprehensive programming and high-level networking opportunities.

Attendance will foster interagency collaboration, reduce the need for multiple, smaller engagements, and allow for a deeper understanding of how the government cybersecurity community is adapting to a rapidly changing threat landscape.

I believe that attending the Billington CyberSecurity Summit will be a worthwhile investment in my professional development and a valuable contribution to our agency's mission. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I gain will significantly improve my performance and benefit our agency's ability to serve the public.

Thank you for your consideration of my request.

Sincerely,
